    To William Harris–

I just down-loaded your “Archilochus” text but have read only the first several pages. I just want to pay some homage to you [sic] both for your insights into Archilochus and to your approach to his poetry–any poetry for that matter.

I’m a community college professor/instructor, retired in 1994 from Ventura (CA) College in So. California, where, together with the innumerable English 1A sections necessarily a part of my teaching load, I had the good luck to teach both parts of the year-long World Lit course, from 1969 until my retirement.

I’m currently going to offer an hour or so of Archilochus–and Catullus–as part of an eight week Osher program (for seniors 55+) at Cal State Channel Islands . I tell you this not for me, but just for a perspective on my appreciation of your contribution.
