Turkish barbarity, now an attraction

I wish I was a poet, able to describe my sadness when I read this post: “’Treasures of Istanbul’ museum officially opened on 29th of November [2006] in Philoxenos (Binbirdirek) Cistern. Currently there are 19 big posters and 5 scale models of Byzantine monuments based on Byzantium 1200 project.”

After the capture of Constantinople Turks destroyed the city, and after that, they destroyed it even more. Ashamed by the general admiration for the Byzantine Constantinople, in the course of time they tried to have the monuments disappear altogether. And now that the monuments are gone, the shame easier to cope with in the modern unmasked and global hunt for gold, a museum will present their replicas to tourists…
